Italian Herbs - Healthy As Well As Tasty!

4. FENNEL (Foeniculum vulgare)- Used mainly in sausages, it is also used to make herbal tea. Fennel is a rich source of phytonutrients and vitamin C. It has anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is also famed as an anti cancer agent
5. OREGANO (Origanum vulgare) - This is a very popular Italian herb used in marinara sauces. It is also used with lamb and beef. It is a good source of calcium, iron, omega 3 fatty acids and manganese. It has anti bacterial and antioxidant properties.

6. SAGE (Salvia officinalis) - It is used in a variety of dishes, including meats and salads. It contains a variety of flavonoids and phenolic acids. It is a proven antioxidant. Research suggests that it can boost ones memory.

10. LEMON BALM - This "calming herb", is a member of the mint family. This herb has anxiolytic properties. It is said to be a cure to insomnia. This Italian herb is used to make tea, lemonade and is often added to salad dressings.
